Homeownership is an important step in everyone's life. It represents stability and freedom. It also helps improve the community since real estate taxes can help fund road repairs, parks and recreation, police and fire protection, and so much more.

At Will County Habitat for Humanity, they help provide deserving families with a safe and affordable home, so they can reap the benefits of homeownership. Keep reading to see how you can help!

About the Will County Habitat for Humanity

Since they began in 1988, the Will County Habitat for Humanity has brought together thousands of volunteers. With their help, they've been able to place 75 families into their forever homes, built alongside Jimmy Carter and Oprah Winfrey, and conducted a seven-home blitz-in which they built seven homes at one time!

They put God's love into action by creating a world in which everyone has a decent place to live.

How Can You Help?

The Will County Habitat for Humanity relies on the help of volunteers just like you. You can always make a monetary donation that can help them purchase supplies and land for home building.

Whether you come alone or with family and friends, there are hands-on jobs for everyone. You can paint walls or perform minor repairs-no experience required! If you do have construction experience, however, they're always looking for dedicated crew leaders.

If you'd rather not get your hands dirty, you can still make a difference. Join one of their committees, where you can use your connections and expertise to plan and maintain the many programs behind the scenes at the Will County Habitat for Humanity.

Support the ReStore

The Will County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a special shop where you'll find a variety of unique home goods. Plus, everything's 50% to 80% off the original retail value. Some of the items they usually have in stock include:

  • Appliances
  • Living room furniture
  • Home décor
  • Flooring

Best of all, when you purchase your home goods at the ReStore, all proceeds support the work of Will County Habitat for Humanity.

It's also just one more way for you to lend a hand. If you have gently used home goods, donate them to the ReStore. You can also volunteer your time. You can help work the register, clean the store, print price tags, and more.

Let's Make Will County an Even Better Place to Live!

From building homes and making home repairs to providing the community with discounted home goods, the Will County Habitat for Humanity has been improving the lives of our neighbors for over 30 years.

You can help too! Follow them on Facebook to learn more about volunteering opportunities!
